The Dangerous Prayer

Here’s another idea for the Jr. youth gathering:

Title: “The Dangerous Prayer”

Focus on Petition: “Hallowed be thy Name”

Question we repeatedly ask: “How do we hallow?”

Sectionals: We hallow with…

Our minds
Our words
Our actions
Our sexuality
Our finances
Our time

I wrote a sermon on this a while back. I'll post it in the comments section. It will help you understand why I call this petition "dangerous." I know it looks long, but if you know how to read it will only take you 10 minutes or so. If not, well, it could take a little longer.

Fun Idea!

Jonathan - this is great!
I do think we should maybe try and incorporate some type of Prayer Room or Chapel into the gathering. A SAFE place where students & adults can go and pray. We can have a prayer box that they can drop their prayers in and maybe we can display those prayers on the big screen or pray during the gathering.

Other than that, I don't have any other thoughts at this time! Will think on it!

Sectionals as follows:

• What if we prayed "Our Father who art in heaven"?

• a sectional on the role of fathers (very needed these days)
• maybe for adults?

• What if we prayed "Hallowed be Thy Name"?
  

• Hallowing God's Name in our lives
• Focus on how we live/think/talk/etc.

• What if we prayed "Thy Kingdom Come"?

• Focus on how the Kingdom comes in Jesus

• What if we prayed "Thy will be done"?
• Focus on God's will and how we pray for it.
• In all things God be glorified.

• What if we prayed "Give us this day our daily bread"?
• Focus on Godly stewardship.
• Proverbs 30:7-9
• Teach us to be clearing houses not storage houses

• What if we prayed "forgive us our trespasses..."?
• Focus on forgiveness
• Four Promises form The Peace Maker by Ken Sande
  

• I will not dwell on this incident.

  I will not bring up this incident again and use it against you.

  I will not talk to others about this incident.

  I will not let this incident stand between us or hinder our personal relationship.

• What if we prayed "lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil"?
  
• Focus on temptation and tools God gives us to overcome

• What if we prayed "for thine is the Kingdom..."?
• focus on power and glory of God.

We obviously can't do all these, but I think we could pick the ones we like. What do you think? We could call the gathering "IF... (What if we prayed?"
